Generational Equity Sponsors Town North YMCA Swimming Outreach

06.25.2009 – Generational Equity, a private mergers and acquisitions firm, has partnered with The Sports Fan’s Network and the YMCA of Dallas to sponsor swimming lessons in two North Dallas communities.

The Town North YMCA swimming outreach program provides on-site swimming lessons at two North Dallas apartment communities with high percentages of children that cannot swim. The apartments were selected based on a variety of factors including overall need and logistical barriers that prevented the children from attending programs at a community pool. One of the two communities selected is the Sierra Vista apartment complex. Sierra Vista residents are 95% Hispanic and a high percentage of the parents whose children enrolled in the program are not able to swim themselves.

“We originally reached out to the Dallas YMCA as we were interested in connecting a youth sporting activity with a corporate sponsorship during these tough economic times,” commented Jerod Morris, editor in Chief DallasSportsFans.Com. “When we were made aware of an opportunity to sponsor a sporting activity that could potentially save lives, we knew we had found the right opportunity.”

Understanding the risk that water presents children every summer, the YMCA along with the charitable contribution from Generational Equity offered the 8 week swimming course in order to make a difference. The Sports Fans Network’s DallasSportsFans.Com, in hopes of driving awareness and soliciting funding for future swimming outreach programs, is covering the program through online blog postings.
